It is only a couple of weeks now before we will get together in beautiful Exmoor for the 2nd THE EX presented by DMRBIKES!
Before we head down there to set it all up and sort the last few things out, we would like to give you the final details for our three-day trail fest.
Location:
We are based once again at the Allerford & Selworthy Community Hall, Hare Park, Allerford. The post code is TA24 8HL. We will mark the venue from the main road and Allerford is small, so you will not miss us.
Event open:
The event is open for camping set up and arrival from 4 pm on Thursday. If you can avoid turning up before then would be super helpful, as we will be in the middle of setting up.
We still have a few tents:
We have had a fair number of bookings for our ‘tent service’ but if you are interested in having a tent and sleeping mat provided and set up for you then drop us a line and we can sort out the details. The price for the package is £40 for the weekend (if you are on your own) or £30 per person sharing (max 2 per tent).
Food at the event:
Officially our ‘all inclusive’ event food starts from Friday morning. Our event chef Ian will have his famous burger bar open for business on Thursday evening, but please keep in mind that Thursday night’s food is not included in the event and has to be paid for in cash on site.
Briefing:
You will find the event briefing for THE EX here. Please read it thoroughly before you head to the event so that you know the ‘small print’ and what to bring as well as what to do and not to do.
Start riding / getting ready:
We will start riding & loading up at 12 noon on Friday. Please make sure that you are all signed up, picked up your timing equipment and your goodies from the registration and are ready to roll by 11.30 am on Friday.
Course:
We will be setting up the course pretty much till we get going on Friday (as we are doing it all by bike and it is hilly down there). If you are keen to go for a little spin when you arrive, please have a chat with either Paul or Michael and get some tips regarding where to go.
Mechanics and gear:
We don’t have an official mechanical service down there. So make sure your bike is in tip top condition and bring all the spares and tools you could possibly need. We have lots of very experienced mechanics involved in the event, so if you need any help I am sure we can help you but please don’t rely on us/them to have the tools and parts you might need. Can’t hurt to throw a few inner tubes in the bag as well.
Bike washing:
The friendly crew from SQUIRT will be with us all weekend having a bike wash all set up for us and probably some of their superb chain lube available to make sure that your bike is all shiny and smooth running.
THE EX jerseys:
This year we have our timing and marshal team going all pro in our BONTRAGER THE EX shirts with a special THE EX print on the back. We will have a few of these up for sale at the event for £35. There are only a hand full up for grabs so make sure you come and see us as soon as you get there in case you are interested. And there will be a totally different girl’s version as well. Unfortunately, no picture to hand – but it looks great.
Sponsors:
Besides the lovely crew from DMRBIKES (they are also bringing Lezyne, TRP, XFusion and Vee tires along) who are supporting us once again this year, we will have BONTRAGER with us, who are going to bring a very special guest and who will have a few of their latest products on display. As mentioned above we will have the SQUIRT crew making sure we have shiny bikes with super smooth running drivetrains and we will have some top quality brake pads, rotors and other bits from DiscoBrakes for sale as well. And finally, and possibly most importantly, we are going to have lots of lovely beer from the friendly chaps at the Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery with us. Thanks to all out sponsors – the event would not be possible without their help!!
So that’s it.
If you have any more questions then drop us a line to ride@the-ex.co.uk.
Hope you are looking forward to the event as much as we are, we can’t wait to welcome you all in Allerford.
