Rider update – THE EX 2017 presented by DMRBIKES

Dear THE EXers,
With the summer in full flow, the clock is ticking for the 2017 THE EX presented by DMRBIKES.

We have been out on the trails around Minehead almost on a weekly basis working on some new ‘stage’ additions as well as thinking about some new ideas and improvements for the event – some of them are announced below, some of them will be kept back as a surprise.

Yoga at THE EX
British Wheel of Yoga trained teachers will be teaching early morning pre-ride yoga classes. The emphasis will be on limbering up and stretching in preparation for the days riding with a particular focus on hamstrings, hip flexors, and the spine. No previous experience necessary, suitable for all levels and abilities. If you have a yoga mat, please bring it along.

Fancy a tent?
The guys from WildBike will have the tent service at THE EX once again. We have had a fair number of bookings but if you are interested in having a tent and sleeping mat provided and set up for you then drop us a line and we can sort out the details. The price for the package is £40 for the weekend (if you are on your own) or £30 per person sharing (max 2 per tent).

WildBike enduro camp
If any of your riding buddies have missed out on getting an entry into THE EX this year then fear not as we might have an interesting weekend for you. Our friends at WildBike are running their own three day Exmoor Enduro style event 8th – 10th September. It’s not against the clock, but they have a ‘mates race’ Enduro ethos, run on similar trails to the real THE EX. Let your friends know and have a look here for more details. The weekend is bookable via the WildBike (www.wildbike.co.uk) website.

We need a few details from you
We are planning to get some nice THE EX technical T-shirts together as a gift for everyone. We are keen to get the right size for everybody, so please drop us an email in the next two weeks with your size. We will have a boy’s and a girl’s version.

Besides that, we are keen to find out who would rather have some non-alcoholic drinks at the event. We want to make sure that we have enough alternatives available for everybody who is not too keen on beer or cider.

Fancy bringing your hard tail?
As you probably know, we are running a hardtail category at 2017 THE EX and we are keen to see a few more people in that race. In 2016 the category was tightly fought over and the winning times were not too far away from the open (full suspension) category. If you keen to change to the HT category or if you have any other change to your entry simply drop us a line to ride@the-ex.co.uk and we will adjust your entry records accordingly.

  1. Medium size T shirt, please.

I am trying to decide which bike to bring. I am not familiar with the trails on Exmoor so don’t know whether a light 80mm travel cross country, or 160mm travel slack head angle bike would be most appropriate. Please advise.
