THE MERIDA EX 2021 – latest rider update

Dear THE MERIDA EX riders,
We hope that you are as excited as we are about heading to the beautiful hills around Minehead for the 5th edition of our 3-day enduro event on the 10-12th of September.

We would like to give you a little bit of an update and remind you of a few important points about our 2021 event.

The course:
Due to COVID related issues, we have had to adjust some elements of our original course. We are still running more than 20 stages over the three days, but we have unfortunately had to omit one of the uplifts. Friday and Sunday will start off with an uplift, while Saturday now features a ride out from the venue in Allerford. The course length has been adjusted accordingly, bringing the Saturday ride down from 44 to 41km.

The EXPOSURE LIGHTS night stages:
New for this year will be our two night stages, which will both be run on Friday evening. Friday will see a shortened afternoon ride, followed by a few hours of relaxing back at the event village, before the night stages kick-off. Please make sure that you bring suitable night riding lights as well as a rear light, as our post-ride dinner will take place less than 100 yards away from the finish line of the final night riding stage.

Our COVID protocol:
While we don’t have any government-imposed restrictions, we have created our own Covid protocol (including mandatory mask-wearing on the bus, social distancing, additional facilities, airing of indoor places etc.) to reduce any potential risk. On top of that, the vast majority of our event (not just the riding element) takes place outside. If you should show any symptoms leading up to the event, please get in touch immediately to discuss the options. We would kindly ask you to bring some Rapid Lateral Flow Test (they are available free from https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests) to the event, so that you can test yourself if you feel unwell. Finally, we would strongly encourage you to make sure you are fully vaccinated to further reduce the risk.

We will have some further details and updates nearer the time, but please also keep your eyes on our social media channels (https://www.facebook.com/The-Ex-Enduro-1122299187881425/ and https://www.instagram.com/exenduro/?hl=en ) for the latest news.

Looking forward to seeing you in September!

Paul & Michael
